Chalet D, Austria (completed)
Chalet D
Hinterthal, Maria Alm, Austria
The creation of this unique Chalet was based on a simple idea of Robbert Jan Admiraal and Onno de Vries: a roof built on poles, with glassed front and back sides, that allow you to appreciate nature, snow and mountains from wherever you are in the house. The project became reality thanks to persisting on the conceptual idea from the very start until project completion and thanks to many long conversations, including weekends, with the Dutch client relative to design, choice of materials and planning.
In order to welcome and comfortably host family and friends, the Chalet consists of 5 Suites, each with individual bathrooms. The swimming pool on the lower level has a very specific purpose, fully aligned with the conceptual idea of the Chalet: to have the impression of swimming in midst the ski slopes and mountains through the effect of its fully glassed windows. To complete the conceptual idea, a glassed lift connects the 6 different split leveled floors.
The bathrooms, the wellness area and swimming pool have been created by Robbert Jan Admiraal in partnership with the Leiden based Dutch company Sjartec. Several local partners have been involved in the project as well, including Franz Blatzer from Saalfelden, who has created furniture and woodwork of finest quality. The upper level glass structures are based on the electrically powered Louvre System created by another Dutch company, Livium, based in Oldenzall.
The pictures have been taken in March 2019 by Dutch photographer, Mark Elst.
